STV233: IoT Multimedia Traffic Control : Optimizing Quality

Muhammad Amir Arash Bin Mohd Affendie Universiti Kuala Lumpur MIIT

The rise of Internet of Things (IoT) devices has transformed daily life but introduced challenges in managing multimedia traffic, including latency, delays, and bufferbloat in real-time applications. This project tackles these issues by prioritizing multimedia traffic using Smart Queue Management (SQM) on OpenWRT firmware, optimizing key Quality of Service (QoS) parameters to maintain stable network performance under heavy loads. Testing demonstrated notable improvements in latency, throughput, and bufferbloat management, proving the system's effectiveness in enhancing multimedia communication. This project provides a foundation for adaptive and reliable network solutions to address the increasing demands of IoT-driven multimedia traffic.
