NUR AZNI BINTI MAT NAWI SEKOLAH MENENGAH TEKNIK TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN PUTRA

In the area of Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Secondary School, many Charlie insects have been found. These Charlie insects caused of staphylinidae dermatitis among students residing in the school dormitory. As a result, victims experience skin itching, redness, and blisters. Although dermatitis does not spread to others, it causes pain and discomfort for the affected individuals. To treat the dermatitis experienced by the students, Banavera cream has been introduced using the extract of banana sap and easily obtainable aloe vera gel. The banana’s species known Musa acuminate balbisiana was chosen as the main ingredient for the cream because its sap possesses antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anticancer properties, while aloe vera gel is rich in vitamins beneficial for wound healing. The discarded banana leaves are collected and processed to extract the sap then mixing with aloe vera gel. This approach allows for the utilization of natural plant waste, thereby reducing overall waste to prepare this cream. The resulting Banavera cream has an effectiveness in treating dermatitis within a short period. This product does not contain prohibited substances or adulterance such as formaldehyde, tretinoin, and others, as these can cause severe side effects on users' skin and overall health. The product has potential for commercialization at an affordable price. Keywords: staphylinidae dermatitis; antimicrobial; antioxidant; adulterance; sap
