Monitoring student entry and exit activities in dormitories is a crucial component of ensuring student safety, discipline, and effective residential management in higher education institutions. At Politeknik Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, the existing dormitory monitoring process relies heavily on manual or semi-digital recording methods, which may lead to inaccurate records, limited real-time visibility, and inefficiencies in tracking student movement, particularly during late hours or emergencies. This project aims to design and develop a QR code–based student dormitory entry and exit monitoring system to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and reliability of student movement tracking. In the proposed system, each student is assigned a unique QR code linked to their identity in a centralized database. Students are required to scan the QR code when entering or exiting the dormitory, automatically recording the date, time, and movement status. The system enables dormitory administrators to monitor student movement in real time through a web-based dashboard, generate movement reports, and identify unusual or non-compliant behavior patterns. The system development follows a structured methodology comprising requirement analysis, system design, database development, implementation, and functional testing. The use of QR code technology offers a cost-effective, user-friendly, and scalable solution without requiring complex hardware infrastructure. The expected outcomes of this project include improved dormitory security, reduced administrative workload, enhanced data accuracy, and better support for decision-making in dormitory management. Overall, the proposed system contributes to the digital transformation of dormitory operations by providing a systematic and data-driven approach to student movement monitoring.
