Tracking systems are crucial for Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) as they identify the position of shipments and inform customers well in advance. Without them, locating delivered items is nearly impossible, often leading to them being presumed lost or stolen, which causes business losses. Tracking and tracing systems are the industry standard for customer service, providing a competitive advantage for LSPs. LSPs have long offered these services to help consumers monitor their goods: Tracking is the collection and management of real-time product information for easy location, while tracing stores the history of the product's distribution cycle and components. While the tracking and tracing services available in Malaysia are functionally similar to those in other countries, their significance is diminished by the low adoption of technology by logistics companies. Consequently, customers often cannot obtain information on the delivery status of their cargo, resulting in dissatisfaction and a loss of confidence and trust. Efficient coordination of logistics flow is difficult without proper and suitable tracking and tracing systems. A major limitation is that existing tracking systems cannot identify the contents within a box, for example, whether the box is open or if the contents are lost or stolen. Global industries frequently face problems with both tracking and tracing in their logistics networks, creating significant coordination issues across the entire product development process. Advanced Shipment Visibility Systems (ASVS) offer a solution for managing distribution chains through advanced future information technologies, such as available real-time tracking.
