ARTifex SPM is a systematic pedagogical innovation developed to enhance technical proficiency in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) Visual Arts by addressing the persistent gap between theoretical colour knowledge and practical application. In examination contexts, students commonly expend excessive time on trial-and-error colour mixing, leading to inefficient workflows and diminished artistic quality. Guided by the “One Student, One Card” principle, ARTifex SPM translates complex watercolour techniques into instinctive, exam-ready procedures through an integrated framework comprising a scientifically grounded Anti-Dull colour formula, a three-layer time-management painting technique informed by self-regulated learning theory, standardized inclusive colour guides for complex subjects, and a portable interface supporting self-directed practice. Results indicate reduced cognitive load, improved execution speed, and greater consistency in visual outcomes during assessment. The significance of this innovation lies in its ability to democratize access to technical mastery while repositioning educators as facilitators of learning. The novelty of ARTifex SPM resides in its codification of artistic intuition into a concise, portable, and standardized pedagogical system tailored specifically for high-stakes art examinations.
