This project explores a cutting-edge approach to boosting the efficiency of solar panels by incorporating quantum dots into multi-junction solar cells. Traditional single-junction solar cells face challenges like low energy conversion rates and limited efficiency, which restrict their ability to meet growing energy demands. To overcome these limitations, this study uses a layered design of semiconductor materials, each optimized for different parts of the light spectrum. Quantum dots enhance the cells further by tailoring the energy bandgap, maximizing light absorption. Using MATLAB simulations, the project models these designs, calculates their efficiency, and compares them to conventional solar cells, showing promising results.
