ST517: POSTURE RECOGINTION CHAIR (PRC)

WAN MUHAMMAD HAZIQ BIN WAN SALLEHUDDIN UNIVERSITI KEBANGSAAN MALAYSIA

The increasing prevalence of back pain and neck strain is largely associated with prolonged sitting and poor posture, particularly among individuals with sedentary lifestyles. Extended sitting without adequate movement or ergonomic support can lead to musculoskeletal disorders. To address this issue, the Posture Recognition Chair (PRC) is proposed as an innovative solution to promote proper sitting posture and reduce strain on the neck and back. The chair is equipped with posture-detection sensors that monitor the user’s sitting position and provide audible alerts when incorrect posture is detected. This innovation is particularly beneficial for individuals such as IT professionals and students engaged in prolonged desk-based activities.
