STV275: SMART EYEGLASSES FOR DRIVING SAFETY

MUHAMMAD AZLEE HAQIMIE BIN AZHAN Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM)

Drowsy driving, particularly caused by microsleep episodes, is a leading factor in traffic accidents worldwide, resulting in fatalities, injuries, and significant emotional and financial costs. This project introduces an advanced anti-sleeping alarm system to mitigate the dangers of microsleep during driving. Utilizing an infrared (IR) sensor, the system monitors driver alertness and activates tactile and auditory safety measures, including a vibrating steering wheel or seat and a warning alarm. If no response occurs within five seconds, the vehicle autonomously reduces speed to prevent accidents. By integrating proactive safety measures, this technology aims to significantly reduce microsleep-related crashes, enhance road safety, and set a new standard in driver-assistance systems.
