The translation process in molecular biology is conceptually challenging for many students to understand due to its abstract nature and the complex interactions involved in polypeptide synthesis. Traditional teaching methods, such as lectures and static diagrams, are frequently insufficient to support meaningful conceptual understanding. This innovation introduces the Translation Teaching Kit (TTK), an interactive, hands-on instructional tool designed to enhance students’ comprehension of the mRNA translation stage in protein synthesis. The TTK comprises manipulatable components representing mRNA codons, tRNA anticodons, ribosomal subunits, and amino acids. Through structured, step-by-step activities, students actively simulate the translation process by matching codons on mRNA with the complementary anticodons on tRNA and assembling a polypeptide chain. This approach promotes active learning, collaboration, and visual–kinesthetic engagement. The kit effectiveness was evaluated through student feedback and pre- and post-test assessments. Class observations showed better student engagement while assessments indicated improvement in conceptual understanding as most students were able obtain high scores after the intervention with TTK. The TTK demonstrates strong potential for commercialisation as an interactive and educational board game. Its adaptable design allows for expansion to other molecular biology topics, including transcription and DNA replication. Overall, the TTK provides an effective, innovative solution for improving the teaching and learning of translation by transforming an abstract biological process into an interactive and meaningful learning experience.
