ABSTRACT
This project presents the development of a compact and affordable gas detector
designed to enhance household safety by providing efficient gas leak detection. Unlike
conventional detectors that are bulky, costly, and primarily suited for industrial or
commercial settings, the proposed device is optimized for residential use, particularly in
kitchens where gas appliances are common.
The detector utilizes the MQ-2 gas sensor, known for its high sensitivity to gases such as
propane and methane, ensuring accurate detection of even minor leaks. It is equipped
with a buzzer for audible alerts, an LED indicator for visual warnings, and a user-friendly
on/off switch. Powered by a replaceable 9V battery, the device offers easy installation and
maintenance without requiring technical expertise. When a gas leak is detected, the
system promptly activates both sound and light alerts, enabling immediate user
response to prevent accidents.
By integrating simplicity, reliability, and affordability, this gas detector provides an
effective safety solution tailored for home environments, contributing to the prevention
of gas-related hazards and promoting peace of mind for homeowners.
