ST531: Smart Shopping Trolley

In today’s digital era, advances in Internet of Things (IoT) technology have enabled new approaches to retail automation. This project presents a Smart Shopping Trolley designed to simplify the shopping process by automating item identification and providing continuous cost updates to the user. The system is powered by an ESP32 microcontroller and integrates an RFID module, TFT SPI display, NEO-6M GPS module, LED indicators, and a buzzer. Each product is scanned via RFID to register its price, while the system automatically calculates and updates the running total, which is displayed in real time on the TFT screen to support transparent budgeting during shopping. Additionally, the trolley includes location tracking using GPS and indoor tracking, enabling real-time monitoring of trolley position for safety, loss prevention, and operational control within the supermarket environment. Overall, the proposed system offers an efficient and user-friendly smart trolley solution that enhances the shopping experience and reduces reliance on conventional checkout counters.
