This idea aims to develop a portable carbon dioxide (CO2) fire extinguisher that prioritises ease of use and low cost. Unlike conventional CO2 extinguishers that rely on CO2 canisters, this design continuously produces CO2 through a controlled chemical reaction between limestone (calcium carbonate) and vinegar (acetic acid) only when needed. A carbon steel container is used to withstand the high internal pressure during operation. The low-cost materials can easily be found refilled by the consumer. This innovation offers a practical alternative for class B and class C fires, capable of use by students, adults and even small children.
