SS518: ClueQuest Classroom

Siti Nor Zulaiqha Binti Jazmi Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM)

This study introduces ClueQuest Classroom, a game-based mobile application designed to address the challenge of accurately diagnosing secondary school students’ English proficiency at the start of instruction. Using the ADDIE model, the app integrates narrative-driven quizzes across five language skills (grammar, reading, writing, listening, speaking) within a detective-themed level-up system. Pilot testing with 49 respondents indicated high effectiveness in assessment, increased student engagement, and strong utility for teachers in making data-informed instructional decisions. The findings demonstrate that embedding diagnostic assessment within an engaging, game-based framework transforms it into a continuous learning process, supporting both individual skill development and pedagogical improvement.L
