The increasing demand for efficient parking management in urban and office environments has exposed the limitations of conventional parking systems that rely on manual monitoring and static indicators without real-time information. These limitations often result in longer search times for available parking spaces, internal traffic congestion, and inefficient space utilization.

This project proposes an AI-powered smart parking system designed for controlled parking environments such as office buildings. The system integrates artificial intelligence–based computer vision, Internet of Things (IoT) sensors, and real-time image processing to detect vehicle entry, recognize vehicle number plates, and determine parking slot availability. A camera module captures incoming vehicle images, while AI-based number plate recognition verifies registered vehicles. Ultrasonic sensors installed at each parking slot continuously monitor vehicle presence and update slot occupancy status in real time.

Upon successful vehicle detection, the system automatically assigns an available parking slot and notifies the driver of the allocated slot location through system notifications, avoiding the need for mobile applications or complex physical navigation infrastructure. The prototype is implemented using a Raspberry Pi as the central controller, ESP32 microcontrollers, and low-cost sensors to demonstrate system feasibility and practicality.

Overall, the proposed system improves parking efficiency, reduces manual intervention, and minimizes internal congestion in regulated parking facilities. The results demonstrate that integrating AI and IoT technologies can provide a scalable and cost-effective solution for intelligent parking management in controlled environments.
