SpeakWave Ring: A Gesture-Based Multilingual Communication Device for Mute Users is an innovative assistive technology designed to help individuals with speech impairments communicate more effectively. The system consists of a smart ring and a mobile application that work together to translate hand gestures into spoken words. The smart ring uses motion sensors to detect hand and finger movements, while the mobile application, supported by artificial intelligence and camera-based gesture recognition, interprets these gestures and converts them into text or speech. SpeakWave also includes multilingual translation features, allowing users to communicate across different languages, which enhances inclusivity and accessibility. This project focuses on improving the social well-being of mute individuals by reducing communication barriers and promoting emotional confidence. By integrating gesture recognition, AI technology and IoT infrastructure, SpeakWave Ring supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including good health and well-being, quality education, innovation and reduced inequalities.
