The HijabHue mobile application is designed to simplify and enhance the shopping experience for hijab-wearing individuals by offering personalized hijab colour recommendations based on skin tone. The app addresses the challenges many women face in selecting colours that complement their complexion, often leading to decision fatigue, suboptimal purchases, and reduced confidence. Using advanced image recognition and artificial intelligence (AI), HijabHue analyzes the user’s skin tone through a simple photo capture and suggests suitable hijab colours in real time. The app integrates seamlessly with store inventory systems, ensuring that only in-stock options are displayed to users. This combination of personalization and inventory management streamlines decision-making and fosters more confident purchases. Developed following the Mobile Application Development Life Cycle (MADLC), the project includes structured phases such as identification, design, development, and prototyping to ensure a user-centric and robust application. Key benefits include saving time, reducing decision fatigue, enhancing customer satisfaction, minimizing product returns, and supporting sustainable shopping habits. The solution also benefits retailers by boosting sales, improving inventory turnover, and building customer loyalty. Recommendations include incorporating augmented reality (AR) try-on features to elevate user engagement and satisfaction. Aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) like innovation in industry (SDG 9), responsible consumption (SDG 12), and economic growth (SDG 8), HijabHue fosters sustainable, thoughtful shopping practices while contributing to decent work and economic development.
