In recent years, the rapid advancement of the Internet of Things (IoT) has enabled the development of intelligent systems that can enhance safety, security, and efficiency across various domains. This project focuses on designing and implementing an IoT-based Early Warning System that provides real-time monitoring, detection, and alerting to mitigate potential risks. The system integrates sensors, microcontrollers, and wireless communication modules to collect environmental and situational data, which is then transmitted to a centralized platform for analysis.

The WildGuard System is a Smart Wildlife Road Safety System aims to provide such a solution by developing an IoT based early warning system to detect wildlife near forest roads and highways, particularly in high-risk zones like Gerik. Using motion and ultrasonic sensors combined with infrared technology, the system can detect animals within its effective range using multiple sensor units. When detection occurs, roadside warning lights are activated, giving drivers timely alerts and reducing collisions.

This technology marks a shift toward intelligent and responsive infrastructure, offering real-time alerts instead of static signs that drivers may ignore. It also enables non-invasive wildlife monitoring, preserving natural behaviour while keeping crossing routes safe. The project’s dual purpose is to improve road safety and protect wildlife from vehicle related harm, setting a model for similar initiatives worldwide and promoting coexistence between development and nature.
