The VolcanoTech 3D project is an innovation by Form 1 students in the Computer Science Foundation (ASK) subject as the main host subject. This project aims to integrate knowledge from various fields — ASK, Science, Geography and Malay Language — into an authentic and fun project-based learning outcome.

Through this project, students produced two main components, namely:

An interactive 3D physical model of a volcano, and

A digital game called “Erupto Run” built using Scratch software.

In the Design Skills (KmR) aspect, students used the design process starting from idea generation, sketching, material selection, testing and model improvement. The physical model showed a simulation of a volcanic eruption using safe materials such as vinegar and baking soda. From a Geography perspective, students explored the structure, types and formation process of volcanoes, while in Science, they applied acid and alkali reactions to produce a simulation of a real eruption.

In the digital component, students utilized their instructional coding skills in ASK to create the game “Erupto Run”, where players had to avoid lava and volcanic rocks while collecting points. The development of this game trains computational thinking, programming logic, and problem-solving skills in a creative and fun context.

Malay language elements are also applied in writing project reports, producing game dialogues, as well as oral presentations and self-reflection, to strengthen students' communication and language literacy skills.

Overall, this project successfully fostered 21st century skills (4Ks), namely communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking, in line with the aspirations of TS25. The final results of the project show how students can combine science, technology and language knowledge in an integrated STEM and KmR approach, thus forming students who are creative, innovative and reflective thinkers.
