Our research laboratory has over 100 scientific items, including consumables, reagents, and chemicals. Inventory tracking through manual spreadsheets is difficult to manage with multiple editors and no real-time updates or conflict resolution. Furthermore, unstandardised process for new item additions, stock requests, and expiration date tracking imposes challenges for item sharing in the same laboratory. Thus, we developed LabSync, an inventory system with barcodes utilising Airtable, a cloud-based platform, which enables researchers to visually organise, link, and update the inventory data in real-time. LabSync is made accessible via all devices including smartphones advocating recovery time efficiency of the itemised inventory data.
