This project presents Lemonia, a lemon-clear soap developed to address the problem of skin irritation and environmental pollution caused by commercial soaps that contain synthetic fragrances, preservatives, and petroleum-based chemicals, by using safer and more sustainable natural ingredients. Lemonia soap was produced using the saponification method involving coconut oil, sodium hydroxide, glycerin, ethanol, distilled water, and stearic acid, while lemon peel extract was prepared from recycled lemon peels mixed with glycerin and distilled water and incorporated into the soap to provide natural fragrance and added value. The Lemonia project proves that food waste, such as lemon peels, can be transformed into a valuable and safe personal care product, highlighting the effectiveness of green chemistry in producing innovative, environmentally responsible, and commercially viable soap products.
