WAN AFIQAH ANIS BT WAN AHMAD UNIVERSITI MALAYA
This proposal introduces TRI-CO, an innovative approach designed to enhance listening comprehension among ESL learners by integrating the coordination of visual, cognitive, and physical responses. The TRI-CO methodology emphasizes the synergy of three components: eyes (visual focus), mind (cognitive processing) and hands (note-taking or answering), fostering active engagement and improved performance in listening tasks. This approach addresses the limitations of traditional listening strategies, which often fail to encourage active participation and sensory integration. Targeted at pre-university Islamic studies students, the TRI-CO approach employs interactive multimedia activities, strategic note-taking, and collaborative tasks to equip learners with effective listening strategies. Anticipated outcomes include heightened engagement, improved comprehension, and greater confidence in answering listening questions. By aligning with 21st-century learning practices, TRI-CO prepares students to tackle listening tasks holistically and effectively.
