The spread of misinformation in Malaysia, with 77% of news being fake, is a growing issue exacerbated by social media and the internet. Ranked third in South Asia for fake news, Malaysia faces significant social, political, and economic risks. In response, VeriFy aims to tackle this problem by developing a false news detection system tailored to the Malaysian context. Using existing algorithms and datasets of legitimate and fraudulent content, VeriFy’s user-friendly interface improves with larger datasets, offering an effective tool to identify and prevent the spread of fake news, significantly aiding in the fight against disinformation.
