STV542: OptiCom: Let Your Eyes Speak Your Mind

Annisa Sofea Binti Abdul Rashid Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA)

OptiCom is a non-verbal communication system using eye movements, allowing users to select message prompts and form complete sentences. It addresses the needs of individuals with conditions like Locked-In Syndrome (LIS) by restoring their ability to express thoughts. The project involves studying machine learning techniques for detecting iris positions and blinks, building a user-friendly word suggestion interface, and evaluating communication efficiency. A Multilayer Perceptron Artificial Neural Network ensures precise eye tracking. The outcome is a functional desktop application designed to help verbally disabled individuals construct coherent sentences and improve overall communication accessibility.
