ClassiLedger is an innovative digital accounting solution developed to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and accessibility of financial management through intelligent automation. The system integrates Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to automatically scan, extract and classify financial documents such as receipts, invoices and bills into appropriate accounting categories. This enables users to generate instant and reliable financial statements, transforming the traditionally manual accounting process into a seamless digital experience. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia continue to face significant challenges in managing their financial records, primarily due to the reliance on manual documentation and limited access to user-friendly accounting systems. These traditional practices often result in human errors, poor financial organization and delays in report preparation, consequently affecting business decision-making. Recognizing this gap, the ClassiLedger project was conceptualized to provide a smart, affordable, and accessible tool that can assist both professionals and non-accounting users in handling financial documentation effectively. The main objective of this innovation is to design and develop a digital platform capable of automating financial record management through scanning, classification, and automatic report generation. The development process utilized a low-code approach integrating Google Vision AI for OCR processing, Firebase for secure cloud storage and Glide for the application interface. The implementation followed an iterative development cycle involving prototype creation, user testing among students and SME owners, and system refinement based on feedback. The novelty of ClassiLedger lies in its integration of OCR and AI for real-time financial statement generation, allowing users to instantly access key reports such as balance sheets and income statements without accounting expertise. Its user-friendly dashboard ensures intuitive navigation, while flexible customization enables scalability across various user levels including students, SMEs, and individuals. This innovation supports several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) specifically SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) by promoting financial literacy, empowering entrepreneurs, and reducing reliance on paper-based records. From a commercial perspective, ClassiLedger possesses strong market potential, particularly among educational institutions and SMEs seeking efficient, low-cost digital accounting solutions. Its impact extends to industry, organizations and society by fostering better financial governance, supporting digital transformation initiatives and contributing to the advancement of Malaysia’s digital economy.
