YC428: Terraball

Aqeel Ashraf Bin Salehudin MRSM Kuala Klawang

Terraball is an innovative biodegradable product designed to reduce paper waste while promoting environmental restoration. It is produced using recycled paper sludge mixed with compost and embedded seeds, transforming waste materials into a sustainable planting medium. Upon exposure to soil and moisture, Terraball decomposes naturally, enabling seed germination and supporting plant growth.
The project addresses key environmental challenges, including excessive paper waste and habitat loss, particularly within school environments. By targeting students and teachers, Terraball integrates waste management with environmental education, encouraging sustainable practices and awareness from an early stage. The product is low-cost, easy to produce, and environmentally safe, making it suitable for large-scale educational use.
Terraball demonstrates how recycled waste can be repurposed into a functional product that contributes to ecological conservation, supports green education initiatives, and promotes long-term sustainability.
