ST544: DEVELOPMENT OF SMART SOLAR PANEL CLEANING ROBOT

This project, entitled “Development of Solar Panel Cleaning Robot,” present an automated cleaning system for solar panels. The efficiency of solar panels is highly dependent on the cleanliness of their surface, as dust, debris, and bird droppings can significantly reduce power output. Manual cleaning is not only time-consuming but also poses safety risks. The proposed solution integrates an Arduino Uno microcontroller, DC motors, motor drivers, ultrasonic sensors, and a relay-controlled cleaning system consisting of a water pump, brush, and fan. The robot is designed to operate autonomously or via Bluetooth control, preventing falls with edge detection sensors while maintaining optimal panel performance. The results demonstrate an increase in irradiance levels after cleaning, proving the effectiveness of the system. This project highlights a cost-effective and sustainable approach to solar panel maintenance, contributing to the long-term efficiency of renewable energy systems.
